About Esiban
Esiban is an Indigenous owned brand created by a Cree founder from Sucker Creek First Nation, Treaty 8, now living and working on Treaty 6 territory in Edmonton. The brand is grounded in lived experience, connection to land, and respect for the distinct Nations, languages, and histories that shape Indigenous identity. Those distinctions matter, and Esiban is built with care to acknowledge them honestly and intentionally.
The name Esiban comes from the Ojibwe word for raccoon. While the word itself is Ojibwe, the brand is rooted in Cree identity. This balance reflects a broader Indigenous reality where cultures meet, coexist, and respect one another without being blurred together. The raccoon symbolizes adaptability, intelligence, and resilience, qualities that continue to define Indigenous survival and creativity today.
Esiban offers Indigenous made clothing and leather goods that honor both tradition and modern life. Each piece is created with intention, focusing on craftsmanship, quality materials, and meaningful design rather than trends or mass production. The work reflects pride in culture while allowing space for evolution, self expression, and everyday wear.
While Esiban centers Indigenous makers and voices, it invites anyone who values respect, authenticity, and thoughtful creation. Wearing Esiban is not about claiming an identity. It is about supporting Indigenous work, honoring the land we live on, and choosing products that carry story, care, and purpose.
